Spotlight Germany's roots come from the Germany for Visitors site that was part of the About.com network. Now independent, his Germany travel articles reside with new content on Spotlight Germany. Joined by his partner Mary Schumacher, they have expanded the site
to include information for the business traveler to Germany, as well as cultural topics. |

Michael Schumacher, Ph.D. MPA, is a native of Karlsruhe who travels to Germany frequently for business, family, and pleasure. Throughout his expatriate life Michael has
maintained his passion for all things German.
Experience: Since his early days in the U.S., Michael has translated for German and American companies and served as an interpreter to German dignitaries. He has been a German-language tour guide, a travel agent for German business travelers, and a German teacher in
language and culture at the college and middle school levels.
Michael is a partner in an international organization development consulting firm. While most of his professional work involves restructuring and improving organizations to deliver high quality services, Michael has become a sought-after professional career coach delivering
down-to-earth advice. He also teaches business courses at a Liberal Arts College.
Education: Michael earned his Ph.D. in Educational Administration, a Masters in Public Management, and a Bachelor's degree in Political Science.

Mary A. Schumacher, M.B.A., is an accomplished writer, with numerous freelance articles and pieces to her credit. She focuses on human resource topics such as international job searching, cross-cultural communications, and executive search. Mary is also a former About.com guide,
having written articles for the Job Searching International site. Those articles have now been incorporated into another joint web site called CareerFrames, where you can find information about international and U.S. job searching, and career advice. She heads
Schumacher Communications LLC, which focuses on corporate web and print publications.
Experience: Mary has always wanted to be a "citizen of the world." As an international trade specialist, Mary worked for several years in the U.S. Department of Commerce in Washington, D.C., participating in international trade missions and developing export information for the U.S. business community. She
lived for several years in Poland, directing the European office of a U.S. manufacturing company. Her current position is communications director for a trade association. She travels extensively throughout Europe and writes articles for print and the Web. Her experience has given her a genuine cross-cultural dimension.
Education: Mary has a Master of Business Administration from Cardinal Stritch University and a Master of Public Administration from the
Hubert Humphrey Institute of Public Affairs. She earned her B.A. in political science and history from the University of Minnesota.
She also spent a year abroad during her undergraduate studies at the Uniwersytet Jagiellonski in Krakow, Poland.
